Vietnam's textile and apparel exports are expected to grow by 10% in 2021

China Cotton Net Special News: According to the situation provided by the Vietnam Cotton Yarn Association, in January this year, Vietnam's cotton imports were 123,500 tons, a decrease of 4 tons from the previous month, and an increase of 51,300 tons from the same period last year, an increase of 51.8%.

   In January, Vietnam’s yarn imports were 164,500 tons, a month-on-month decrease of 10,200 tons, a decrease of 6.8%, and a year-on-year increase of 48,500 tons, an increase of 58%. The export value of textiles and clothing in January was 2.660.8 billion US dollars, a decrease of 6% from the previous month and an increase of 5.7% year-on-year.

   In January, Vietnam's share in the European textile and apparel market increased slightly. According to the latest statistics, in January this year, Vietnam’s exports of textiles and clothing to the European Union amounted to US$272 million, an increase of US$2 million month-on-month and US$10 million year-on-year.

  According to data from Vietnam Customs, Vietnam’s exports of textiles and clothing in 2020 reached 35.69 billion U.S. dollars, a decrease of 9.9% from 2019, and 90% of the export plan was completed for the whole year. For the whole year of 2020, Vietnam’s clothing exports to Europe and the United States amounted to US$3.12 billion, a year-on-year decrease of US$425.8 million, or 12%. Among them, the export value of tooling (including medical protective clothing) was 220.9 million US dollars, an increase of 89.4 million US dollars year-on-year, accounting for 20.9% of all clothing exports.

   In 2021, Vietnam's textile and garment industry strives to achieve an export transaction volume of more than 39 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 10% over 2020. In January this year, Vietnam’s textile production index and clothing production index rose 16.6% and 9.9% year-on-year respectively. The output of chemical fiber and man-made fiber was 92.4 million square meters, a year-on-year increase of 20.4%, and the output of casual clothing was 380 million pieces, a year-on-year increase of 9.3%.
